The iPod was first conceptualized, designed and marketed by Apple Computers. The growth of iPods is associated with the growth and development of the Apple Computer too. As they made advanced software, their iPods too became better. It was under the leadership of John Rubinstein that a team of engineers worked to create the first iPod. In this process of iPod creation, the chief hardware engineers were Tony Fadell and Michael Dhuey.

With great efforts the first iPod was introduced on 23rd October 2001. The first iPod was designed as product compatible with Mac and having a 5 GB hard drive. The subsequent iPod model was released by Apple in 2002 with two versions in place. Users could now use them with Mac as well as with Windows. At that time the Windows iPods were available with the software Music match. History of iPod
